Free Event

Rice Creek Associates invites the public and campus community to a weekend of art and music at Rice Creek Field Station, as part of SUNY Oswego's Family and Friends Weekend. All events are free and open to the public.

Live acoustic music, refreshments and children's art activities as well as a guided nature walk complement the main event: the silent auction.

At the auction, a variety of artistic media and creative interpretations will be represented, with all works fitting the theme "Inspired by Nature." The auction features works donated by local artists and collectors, and proceeds will support the installation of a commissioned sculpture in the Ruth Sachidanandan Herb Garden by SUNY Oswego art student Kayla Kitchener. Kitchener’s mosaic work entitled “Harmony” depicts the variety of lifeforms found on the site including mammals, birds, insects, and plants, and will be dedicated on November 12th.

Visitors are welcome to enjoy these offerings Friday, October 21st, 2-5 p.m. and Saturday, October 22nd, 1-5 p.m. Bidding ends at 4 pm on Saturday. The full schedule is below. Pickups can be made Saturday from 4-5 pm, Sunday 1-3 pm or the following week from 8 am - 4:30 pm. Payment (cash or check) is due at the time of pickup.
