RCA Reflections are invited talks about ecology and the environment, free and open to all to join. This talk will be delivered in a hybrid format: in-person at Rice Creek Field Station or via Zoom (see Dial-In Instructions below).
Local lepidopterist Mike Holy will share his encounters with butterflies through the years from his boyhood to collecting butterfly data at the field station. Free copies of Mike's field guide to butterflies at Rice Creek will be raffled off to attendees.
Mike Holy has had an interest in butterflies all his life. A retired biology teacher, he is a long-time member of the Lepidopterists’ Society, a world organization, since 1978. He wrote a field guide to Rice Creek butterflies, co-authored a paper on the Fiery Skipper at Rice Creek, and has completed a book on the 25-year study of butterflies at Rice Creek. His data at Rice Creek have been shared with lepidopterists in the United States and Europe.
Free parking is available by the field station building.
