About this Event
Marano Campus Center, 7060 NY-104, Oswego, NY 13126, USA
http://oswego.edu/cscThis is a support group focused on disability and accessibility. Since there is so much social stigma about disability in our world, we know that not everyone identifies as disabled. So this is a group for people who identify as disabled, who are looking to explore their relationship with their disability or access needs, or who are looking to support disabled people!
Disability takes various forms in our world, and consider the fact that 1 in 5 (19%) college students have a disability (and that is just those who identify and register on their campus as disabled!). Disabilities can include and are not limited to: physical disabilities, immunocompromising conditions, neurodiversity, emotional and psychiatric disabilities, sensory disabilities, etc.
This is a space to share stories, learn from others, support one another, raise awareness, resist ableism, advocate for better accessibility on campus, and provide a space that is accessible to all!
If you are interested, please fill out our Disability Pride Support Group Interest form or reach out to kyle.dzintars@oswego.edu. We will meet in person (masks are REQUIRED to protect our immunocompromised people!) AND we will have a virtual option for people to join as they can. Fill out the form above to get the link!
You aren’t alone. You matter. You aren’t a burden.
If it isn’t accessible, it isn’t acceptable!
