About this Event
The CIE Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee invites you to Gilman Scholarship: Going Beyond and Supporting the Student Application Process. The session will explore how best to support students applying for the Gilman Scholarship, and will cover the application process, common student challenges, the selection panel, recent Gilman updates and student experiences.
The session is for Professional Staff and Faculty ONLY and will feature the following speakers:

Lyn Blanchfield, Ph.D.
Dr. Lyn Blanchfield has a Ph.D. in medieval history, received a Fulbright Grant to conduct her dissertation research in Italy, and has been a faculty member in history at SUNY Oswego since 2010. She is a Fulbright Program Advisor for the U.S. Student Fulbright Program and is an advisor for the Gilman and Boren Scholarship Programs.

Taylor Ikemiya
Taylor Ikemiya (she/her) is a Study Abroad Advisor at SUNY New Paltz. Ikemiya advises for a portfolio of study abroad programs, works with the EOP Office and EOP students on study abroad efforts, manages the office’s Instagram account and oversees the Gilman Scholarship Program advising and application process at the university.

Margaret Hartofilis
Margaret Hartofilis (she/her) is an International Programs Coordinator at SUNY Stony Brook University. She oversees faculty-led and partner university programs in Europe. Hartofilis served on the Gilman selection panel during the March 2024 cycle. She attended the University of Maryland Gilman Workshop to learn best practices for supporting Gilman applicants, recipients, and alumni on campus.
