The Department of English and Creative Writing has brought hundreds of writers into the community, from Nobel, Pulitzer and Emmy winners to new voices. Organizers believe words matter. Waves of change can start small, with a word. All events are open to campus and community.

 

The author of this year's Oswego Reading Initiative, Dr. Brian Klaas, author of Corruptible: Who Gets the Power and How It Changes Us, is an Associate Professor in Global Politics at University College London and a contributing writer at The Atlantic. Klaas has advised governments, US political campaigns, NATO, the European Union, multi-billion dollar investors, international NGOs, and international politicians. His writing and research have recently appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, Foreign Affairs, the Times Literary Supplement, Financial TimesNewsweekThe Telegraph, The Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Foreign Policy, and elsewhereKlaas is a regular commentator for international media outlets including MSNBC, CNN, BBC News, Sky News, NPR News, CNBC, Bloomberg TV, BBC World Service, Monocle 24 and France 24.

 

  • Dr. Klaas will appear via Zoom, 3-4:20 PM EST. (Please find information to join the virtual event below.)
  • Dr. Klaas will also speak in person, in Sheldon Ball Room, 7:00-8:00 PM EST followed by book a signing.
