About this Event
The Department of English and Creative Writing has brought hundreds of writers into the community, from Nobel, Pulitzer and Emmy winners to new voices. Organizers believe words matter. Waves of change can start small, with a word. All events are open to campus and community.
Writer/director Josh Aaseng’s debut documentary Manifest Destiny Jesus, co-produced and directed with T. Geronimo Johnson and Daemond Arrindell, was screened internationally and winner of the Audience Choice Award at the DC Black Film Festival. Josh has worked as a playwright and director, in the U.S. and abroad, at venues including The Guthrie Theatre and ACT Theatre. He has written and directed celebrated adaptations of literary works including Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five, in addition to supporting the development of dozens of world premiere stage adaptations. A seasoned arts administrator from Seattle, Aaseng is a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab, and a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
The Living Writers Series is supported by ARTSwego and made possible by the Student Arts Fee. Visit www.oswego.edu/arts for more arts programming. The Department of English and Creative Writing is also deeply grateful to the Oswego Reading Initiative and the History Department for making the Fall 2023 series possible.
