Math Department Seminar: "Teaching students how to learn: Metacognition in Calculus"
Students who arrive at college without understanding how learning actually works can consequently struggle in their courses. One way to help such students is to teach them about metacognition. Metacognition is knowing how much you actually know, and it is possible to teach individuals strategies for monitoring their metacognition. In this Math Department Seminar, Professor Sarah Hanusch will discuss one attempt to teach metacognitive strategies within a calculus I course.
