Math in Action: The Assault on our Waterways

"Why do we use salt on our roadways? What are the pros and cons of its use? How can we reduce road salt runoff?" This presentation will ask and answer those and other questions about road salt applications and their impact on the environment as MAT158 students share their data and research connected to the Grand Challenge: Fresh Water For All. Try a hands-on experiment after the presentation to replicate three different types of salt applications. Enjoy chocolate covered salted caramel and pretzels while you learn.
