The movie spans for East Berlin in 1984, five years before Glasnost and the fall of the Berlin Wall, to 1991, in what is now the reunited Germany. It traces the gradual disillusionment of Captain Gerd Wiesler, a highly skilled officer who works for the Stasi, East Germany’s all-powerful secret police. His mission is to spy on a celebrated writer and actress couple, Georg Dreyman and Christa-Maria Sieland. The story takes place in the former German Democratic republic and depicts lives in the mid '80s. Free; parking for those without a campus parking sticker is $1 -- see oswego.edu/parking.
