#noexitJoin the Theatre Department and the Philosophy Department for a staged reading of Jean-Paul Sartre's No Exit. This semester, the two departments have been collaborating on a study of Existentialist Theatre, led by the Chair of the Philosophy Department, Dr. Craig DeLancey and Assistant Professor of Theatre Dr. Bella Poynton.
No Exit is a 1944 existentialist play by where three deceased characters—Garcin, Inez, and Estelle—are trapped in a single room in Hell, which is depicted not with fire and brimstone, but as an eternal, claustrophobic drawing-room where they are tormented by each other's judgment.
