Phishing Derby for Cyber Security Month

In recognition of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM), Campus Technology Services is sponsoring the fifth annual Phishing Derby, to help raise awareness about what phishing is, the risk phishing poses, and how to identify phishing emails.  Phishing emails are those that ask for personal information such as date of birth, Social Security number, credit card number, passwords, or personal contact information. Through phishing emails, the bad guys can steal money or confidential information, gain unauthorized access to computer systems or sensitive data, or commit identity theft.  To participate in the derby, just forward any phishing scam email you receive during the month of October to phishing@oswego.edu.  All faculty, staff, and students can participate.  Enter as many times as you like, but make sure all entries are in by October 30.  Two participants will be randomly drawn on October 31 to win a $15 Amazon gift card.  For more information about phishing, visit https://www.oswego.edu/cts/phishing
