SUNY Oswego's plant museum (Herbarium) and greenhouse are opening their doors to students, faculty, staff, friends, family and community members for a joint program highlighting these two botanical treasures of the SUNY Oswego campus.

At the open house, you'll have the chance to:

• Get to see the University's collection of hundreds of living and tens of thousands of non-living plants
• View plants from around the world, representing different biomes and habitats (arid, temperate, tropical, etc.)
• Learn how the greenhouse and herbarium collections are used in teaching and research, including an NSF-funded initiative to "digitize" specimens to make them available online
• Try your hand at "digitizing" a specimen
• Appreciate the diversity of plants and learn facts about how they are important to people through medicine, food, and more
• Meet students working behind the scenes to support the museum and greenhouse collections
• Enjoy refreshments
• Adopt a new green family member (i.e. take home a plant!)

Location & Parking

Both facilities are located in the Shineman Center.

• To access the Herbarium, take the stairs or elevator to floor 3U ("upper" third floor) and go to room 306.
• To access the Greenhouse, take the northwest stairs or elevator to the 4th floor/roof. This is the elevator across from room 174. Choose the "R" level.
• Visitors who do not have a parking pass can obtain one for $1 online at oswego.edu/parking or in person at the Parking Services Office at the corner of Route 104 and New Street.
