Free Event

RCA Reflections are talks about ecology and the environment, free and open to all to join. This talk will be delivered in a hybrid format: in-person at Rice Creek Field Station or via Zoom (see Dial-In Instructions below).

Talk Description

Fernando Araya, a local arborist and landscaper, will share his expertise in the world of plants, trees, and shrubs -- with a particular emphasis on landscaping with native plants. There will also be time to answer gardening questions from attendees -- so come prepared with your gardening questions!  If you have a question about plant species ID, please bring a clear photo or an image on your phone.

Speaker

Fernando Araya's career began in the field of marine science. He has been certified in the past as an arborist and landscaper through Cornell cooperative extension. He is now the sole proprietor of Fine Gardening, and has worked on transforming and beautifying many estate landscapes. Fernando describes himself as a humble man who respects the earth.

Transportation

Students in need of transportation can request a van pickup by calling the field station at 315.312.6677 by 3 pm on the day before the talk.  For all others, free parking is available by the field station building.
