About this Event
Join the university's pumpkin compost drive from Oct. 31 to Nov. 8 by bringing your pumpkins to the compost pile at the permaculture living lab, located between Shineman Hall and Lee Hall Gymnasium. This is a great opportunity to divert organic waste from landfills and enrich local soil for future growing seasons. Composting not only reduces waste but also enhances soil health, promotes biodiversity and helps combat climate change by sequestering carbon. Please avoid dropping off painted pumpkins, as the paint can contain harmful chemicals that disrupt the composting process. By composting your pumpkins, you will contribute to a sustainable cycle that supports the campus garden and fosters environmental stewardship. Organizers ask the campus to work together to turn this year’s Halloween leftovers into nourishment for the next growing season.
