This show will discuss the Winter constellations and the bright planets that can be seen this December, particularly Mars which will be relatively close to Earth this month. Information about the bright Winter constellations, such as Orion, Taurus, Gemini and Auriga will be presented along with descriptions of the interesting astronomical objects located within their boundaries such as the Pleiades star cluster, the Crab Nebula and the Orion Nebula. A brief tribute to the late Prof. Scott Roby, Planetarium Director Emeritus, will be given at the beginning of the show. This show is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in front of Shineman Hall. Arrive early because seating is limited, Please note that our last show for December 2022 will be Sunday, Dec. 18, with no shows on Christmas and New Year's Day. New shows will resume in late January 2023.
