"The Laramie Project" is considered one of the country's most impactful plays of the last 25 years. When University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard was murdered in 1998, a small town community was forced to confront themselves in ways they never expected. In the aftermath of the hate crime and trials of the perpetrators, the Members of Tectonic Theater Project conducted over 200 interviews with the citizens of Laramie and turned those interviews into a theatrical masterpiece which the NY Times said "swims a stirring medley of emotions: anger, sorrow, bewilderment and, most poignantly, a defiant glimmer of hope."

SUNY Oswego Theatre is excited to host Head Writer and Tectonic Theater Project Member for The Laramie Project, Leigh Fondakowski for a post-show talkback with the audience after the Friday, Oct. 18 performance.

There is language in the play that may potentially be triggering for audience members. If you find that you are struggling to engage and function, please reach out. Resources are available, including Counseling Services, oswego.edu/csc, which provides brief and confidential counseling support to enrolled students (covered by your student health fee.) After-hours crisis coverage is available by calling Counseling Services at 315.312.4416 and listening to the available options. The CrisisTextLine can be accessed by texting GOT5U to 741741. Lastly, the Oz Concern Navigator, oswego.concerncenter.com, is now available to point you to additional resources to help you address your concerns.
