About this Event
Songwriting begins with an idea. That idea can simply be a beat, a melody you whistle, or words you text on your phone. You don’t need to know how to sing or play an instrument to take this course. “Making Music in My Room” is an introduction to the art of songwriting from the comfort of your room, using whatever you have at your disposal. The seminar is also a chance for experienced musicians to get some ideas to expand their creative process.
About the host: Patrick Malowski is a DIY musician who’s been writing and performing live for over a decade. His band Atticus Finch has done multiple tours and has released three albums. That includes shows on campus at Hewitt Union and the Marano Campus Center. Patrick is also a SUNY Oswego graduate, Broadcast and Mass Communications, Class of 2014. He was also a frequent attendee of Lifestyles Open Mic Night. His passion for music was a main influence for his current career in social media and video production.
This event is part of our week-long Virtual Hobby Series, hosted by Welcome Week at SUNY Oswego. These topics were selected by our Laker Leaders as things that interest our new students. Take a few minutes to learn a new skill, try out a new hobby, or to go outside of your comfort zone from the comfort of your own home.
No registration is required for these events. They are open to all SUNY Oswego students.
