Back by popular demand, Rice Creek Associates is pleased to offer another watercolor class with artist and instructor Robert (Bob) Jones. This beginner-friendly watercolor class will guide participants through the steps to complete a finished painting, including demonstrations of painting techniques and individual assistance.

 

Theme

This class's theme is "Local Birds." Participants are invited to bring a photo or picture of a bird they would like to paint. The instructor will also bring samples to select from, including a Northern Cardinal, Red-bellied Woodpecker, and Blue Jay.

 

Class Details

  • Supplies: All supplies are provided, including Arches 9x12" watercolor paper, Winsor Newton Cotman watercolor pigments, brushes, and other tools and supplies.
  • Capacity: The class is capped at 12 participants, ages 12+. Youth under 17 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • Duration: three hours
  • Cost: $20 for members of Rice Creek Associates, $25 for non-members. Fees must be paid in advance, no later than Monday, March 2.

 

Registration

Email RCA@oswego.edu to register, indicating if you will be mailing a check or will be paying in cash. Provide your name, email, and phone number. Registration will be confirmed via email.

 

Fees must be paid in advance, cash or by check only, by Monday, March 2, 2026. You may mail a check (address below) or visit the Rice Creek Field Station and place an envelope with your name and fee in the metal lock box at the front desk. Please note:

  • Building hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00. p.m.
  • Make checks payable to: The Oswego University Foundation/RCA.
  • Please mail checks early to ensure delivery by the March 2 deadline. Anyone not paid by the deadline will forfeit their spot to someone on the wait list. Mail checks to: Rice Creek Field Station, SUNY Oswego, Bldg #23, Oswego, NY 13126

 

Instructor

Robert A. Jones - Watercolor Artist: Bob is a retired technology education teacher from the Hannibal School District.
He has over ten years of experience painting a variety of subjects.

 

Student transportation

Student transportation is not available on 3/7 as our van is reserved for a class field trip.
