Children and their families are invited to a warming winter story hour, offered once each month at Rice Creek. Naturalist Ms. Linda will share delightful tales (or "tails") of winter -- about animals preparing for winter and hibernating, people tapping maple trees, and more. Each free program comes complete with hot cocoa and a corresponding creative activity. Designed for school-aged children and their families, each program last approximately 45 minutes.

  • January 21: Winter Sleep: A Hibernation Story and Winter Eyes. Activity: making snowflakes
  • February 11: Winter's Tale and Stranger in the Woods. Activity: making a habitat
  • March 18: Sugaring and The Quiet Music of Gently Falling Snow. Activity: Linda's maple song and maple syrup tasting
  • April 8: In My Dreams I Can Fly and The Gift of the Willows. Activity: TBD

Please note that children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
