Women in Entertainment will host a screening and award event for campus filmmakers with a red-carpet show. This semester the club created teams with each member having a role(s) of their choice to create a short film that will be shown in a festival on Dec. 4. The films will be judged by three female faculty members: Amy Shore, Jenn Knapp and Soma Frazier. Members will have several opportunities to receive rewards for their films as an entirety and their individual contributions.  There will be an audience choice at the end for audience members as well. This is important for the club because this is their second event and the first festival showcasing hard work done by all members throughout the past three months. More importantly this is important because it showcases female work from students across SUNY Oswego, organizers said.

Women in Entertainment is more than just a safe space and community for girls sharing similar interests in the entertainment industry. The club caters to everybody’s individual interests/career goals by offering networking opportunities amongst each other, mentors, and women in the entertainment industry regardless of where they reside. This is through meetings and workshops as well as opportunities for members to set out on their own productions or collaborate with eachother.
